Former Roma manager Jose Mourinho looked back on his career and discussed some of the players he admired but never got to work with.
In his interview with Cronache di Spogliatoio, the Special One said, “My career regrets? Never having coached Messi, but in reality no one can do that. It’s absurd to think you can coach him because he was born with everything and already knows everything. He’s the one who could teach you some things. You can only say you had the honor of having him in your squad.”
“From Roma, I would have liked to coach De Rossi at Inter or Real, but it wasn’t possible,” said Mourinho, a remark which De Rossi personally appreciate as he liked the post on Instagram containing this quote.
Mourinho concluded with, “At Inter I also wanted Totti, even though he was already advanced in age, but that wasn’t possible either.”
