Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has named the Chelsea player who he believes has been a ‘breath of fresh air’ this week as we head deeper into the new Premier League season.
Chelsea have had a bit of an up and down start and currently see themselves in 8th place in the league after just four games, but there has certainly been some very good signs and some very good moments in many of the games.
Some Chelsea fans feel that success is coming, others just can’t see it. But there is no doubt that there is some real quality now in this squad, especially in the attacking midfield areas. In fact, Chelsea have a host of talent in these areas after adding to it in the summer with Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, and Jadon Sancho.
And it is the latter who Mikel has been raving about this week on his latest Podcast episode.
Sancho made a real impact on Saturday
Mikel was speaking about the impact Sancho had against Bournemouth on Saturday night, coming on to set up the winning goal for Christopher Nkunku.
He says:
“It’s been a long time that we’ve seen a player coming to the club with such a breath of fresh air. The way he played, you know, he was so positive, every time he had to, he was so positive.
“And that’s what we want to see, players go past players, create chances and he did that throughout the game. He affected the game really, really well.”
