Jamie Redknapp was left more than impressed by the performance of Moises Caicedo against Manchester United on Friday night.

The Blues recorded a vital 1-0 victory thanks to Marc Cucurella’s second half header, meaning their Champions League hopes are still alive.

Chelsea now need to beat Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season to guarantee a top five finish and a return to the competition they’ve won twice in their history.

Redknapp praises Caicedo

It wasn’t a great performance, but all that mattered was getting the three points, although Caicedo impressed once again.

The Ecuadorian has been in outstanding form this campaign, and his importance has been highlighted by the fact he’s started all 37 league games this season.

Caicedo cleaned up at Chelsea’s end of season awards, and once again he was brilliant in the middle of the park against United.

Following the win Redknapp singled out Caicedo for praise and believes the 23-year-old is a “world class” player.

“It was the same with Caicedo,” he told Sky Sports Premier League.

“You look at Caicedo now; he looks like a world-class player. When he first came, and the team was struggling devoid of any confidence, it was very difficult for him.”

Santos and Essugo to bolster Chelsea midfield

Caicedo has been the standout performer this season, but he’s emerged as a target for Saudi side Al Nassr, whilst Enzo Fernandez has also impressed.

Midfield is arguably Chelsea’s strongest area of the squad with Romeo Lavia also amongst the ranks, and it’s going to get stronger this summer.
