‘I’ve more than delivered’… 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder satisfied with his performances this season | OneFootball

FC Barcelona played their last game of the 2024-25 season last night and marked the end to a very successful season with a 0-3 win over Athletic Club.

The team put in a commendable effort in this game, even though there was not much at stake in this match. The Blaugranes had already wrapped up the La Liga title a few weeks ago, and this allowed Hansi Flick to start some of his bench players in this game.

Gavi satisfied with his performances

One such player who got to start in this match was the midfielder Gavi, who also talked to the media after the full-time whistle. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the young midfielder highlighted how difficult the serious injury he suffered last season was for him:

“Coming from where I come from, many people don’t know how tough this injury is and how much you suffer… But that’s in the past now. I’ve been very important in the three trophies we’ve won this season, and that’s what I’ll take with me.”

Gavi went on to express satisfaction with his performances:

“Whenever I’ve played, I’ve more than delivered. Last year we didn’t win anything, and this season has been very good for the whole team.”

Praise for the team

The Spanish midfielder also praised the season his team has had:

“If we had won this Champions League, it would have been the icing on the cake of an already historic season. We’ve won the League, the Cup, and the Super Cup — something that doesn’t happen often. The Barça fans appreciate it, and it will be remembered that way in history.”

The La Masia graduate also appreciated the competitiveness shown by his team in this rather inconsequential match:

“The easy thing today would have been to relax, but our mentality and the coach’s is to always go out and win, wherever it is. And today, in a very tough stadium, we showed that.”

Although not a fixed starter, Gavi has still been an important player for Hansi Flick. But more than his role in the team, it is the way he has returned from a serious injury that would excite Barcelona fans. Hopefully, he will have an even better 2025-26 season.
