Toney has just one-year left on his deal with Brentford and it has been widely speculated he would be available this summer.

Manchester United are one of the several clubs said to be interested in a potential deal for Toney, while Chelsea are believed to be leading the race, as per The Independent.

Brentford are understood to be demanding between £50m to £60m for the 28-year-old striker.

Explaining the decision to leave Toney out of the Brentford squad for today’s game against Palace, Thomas Frank said (via Manchester Evening News): “There’s a lot of things going on with Ivan, there’s some transfer interest. Because of all that, we decided not to involve him in the squad.

“It’s the classic one – I couldn’t give too much the day before. He’s been a fantastic player for us, but we showed last year especially that we can deal without him.

“When asked if this is the end of Ivan Toney in a Brentford shirt, he adds: “Who knows? There’s interest, but there’s nothing close.”

The Brentford manager presumably senses that Toney’s head has been turned and we are approximately two weeks away from the transfer deadline.

Toney has reportedly picked up interest from the Saudi Pro League, but his heart has always been set on joining one of the biggest clubs in the world.
