Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni will get a much-needed rest in Sunday’s Serie A match against Empoli.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They also report that Kristjan Asllani will start the match in midfield.
Inter defender Bastoni has not gotten many chances to catch his breath this season.
Injuries across the backline have meant that squad rotation often hasn’t been an option for Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi.
Therefore, Bastoni has almost always started. He has generally started in his usual position on the left of the back three, but has also had to play in the centre of the defense on a couple occasions.
Naturally, it has hardly been ideal for Bastoni to start matches constantly as he has been doing.
The fatigue will certainly have been taking its toll.
Therefore, Inter coach Inzaghi has decided to drop Bastoni from the starting eleven this weekend.
Sky report that the Italian international will be on the bench for Sunday evening’s Serie A match against Empoli.
Carlos Augusto will start in Bastoni’s place on the left of the back three.
Meanwhile, the broadcaster anticipate, Kristjan Asllani will keep his spot in midfield.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be back. However, he will rush straight back into the starting eleven, and will instead start on the bench with a view to starting against Sparta Prague.
