After suffering a 3-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund this evening, 1.FC Union Berlin goalkeeper Frederik Rønnow gave a critical review of his side's performance.
"I think, especially in the first 15 to 20 minutes, we started really good. Then they [Dortmund] had more control in the rest of the first-half and they scored the [first] goal.
"It was a stupid goal for us [to concede]. We came out in the second-half and we had two good chances that their goalkeeper saved well and then they make it 2-0.
"Instead of possibly equalizing the game it becomes 2-0 [to Dortmund] and it's just not good enough. We showed some good things but it wasn't enough," he said.
When asked about the Köpenick club's hardship when facing BVB in recent seasons, the Danish shot-stopper believes they needed total focus across the pitch to change their fortunes.
"Super difficult. We have struggled coming here [to Dortmund] during my time here at Union. There were good things today, but for me, things we have to do better.
"Especially when we play a top opponent like this; we have to be more brave with the ball and sharp in every situation in both penalty areas," Rønnow added.
After the upcoming international break, Die Eisernen will return to Bundesliga action for Matchday 3 where they will host TSG Hoffenheim at the Alte Försterei on 13 September.
