Speaking to Sky Germany, Jonathan Tah shared his thoughts on Bayer Leverkusen’s decision to dismiss Erik Ten Hag so early into his tenure.

“It surprised me, like everyone else. I hope things settle down there,” said Tah.

Expanding on his surprise at his former club’s decision, the 29-year-old continued:  “There’s been a lot of change, a lot of unrest. I think Leverkusen has a good team, and they’ve also brought in players with top qualities. So, I’m pleased for them that they can fully focus on football again.”

Some of the opinions among Tah’s former teammates on the Rhein may differ, however, with reports suggesting many players – and even members of Ten Hag’s backroom staff – disagreed with the Dutchman’s approach. That discontent perhaps showed on the pitch in the opening two Bundesliga matches.

In a summer of sweeping changes at Leverkusen, Tah was one of several key players to have departed the Bay Arena along with Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka and Jeremie Frimpong to name just a few.
