Mehdi Taremi has yet to fully convince Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi, and tomorrow’s match against Juventus will be a big test for him.

This according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com. They report that the Iranian could find himself falling further down the pecking order at Inter.

Striker Mehdi Taremi joined Inter on a free transfer from Porto last summer.

By all accounts, the Nerazzurri had signed Taremi with the intention of making him the main backup to Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram in attack.

However, Taremi has found his playing time at Inter limited.

It has been hard for the 32-year-old to get much of a look in. The form of Martinez and Thuram has meant that they rarely drop out of the lineup for big matches.

Taremi Yet To Convince Inzaghi & Oaktree – Juventus Vs Inter Clash A Test

As Inter coach Simone Inzaghi acknowledged in a press conference today, Taremi has been dealing with some physical problems.

But whatever the cause, Taremi clearly isn’t a player the Inter coach sees as a regular starter.

Meanwhile, last Monday it was not Mehdi Taremi who came on as a substitute to replace Marcus Thuram against Fiorentina. Rather, Inzaghi turned to Marko Arnautovic.

That could well be an indication that the Inter coach simply does not see Taremi as a major part of his plans.

Meanwhile, Inter owners Oaktree Capital may well be ready to move on from Taremi as well.

It is no secret that the North American fund want to lower the average age of the Inter squad.

The sense is that Oaktree would never have sanctioned a move for a player Taremi’s age on relatively high wages last summer. Even if it was on a free transfer.

Therefore, Taremi’s time at Inter could very well be up.

In any event, the Iranian has a good chance of starting against Juventus tomorrow. Thuram is still dealing with an ankle problem.

And even if Thuram is to start, he is unlikely to see out the full ninety minutes.

Therefore, Taremi will have a chance to impress Inzaghi. But it may be one of the last really good opportunities that the Iranian international has to really stake his claim.

Otherwise, Inter may well make the decision to move on in the summer.
