Ipswich Town are keen on Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to a report from Simon Phillips (via The Chelsea Chronicle).

The Tractor Boys' key figure Mark Ashton will be extremely busy this summer, as he looks to build a team capable of competing in the Premier League.

Even though many of their current first-teamers deserve the opportunity to shine under Kieran McKenna next season, an injection of quality will be required if they are to give themselves any chance of being competitive next term.

The striker department is one area that needs to be looked at, with the likes of Conor Chaplin and Nathan Broadhead often operating behind the main forward and Kieffer Moore returning to AFC Bournemouth.

This leaves Ali Al-Hamadi and George Hirst as the club's main striker options, but more depth and quality will be required in this position if they are to score the number of goals required to keep them afloat at the top level.

They could potentially look into the possibility of bringing Moore back to Portman Road for another season or longer, but he hasn't got that much top-flight experience under his belt with the Welshman often finding himself on the sidelines at the Vitality Stadium.

And it looks as though they have a potential alternative lined up.

Ipswich Town to face competition for Armando Broja

Broja previously looked as though he was going to be a key first-teamer at Stamford Bridge for the long term.

But in a friendly back in December 2022, during the World Cup break, the forward suffered a serious knee injury and he spent a long time out of action in the end.

During the most recent January window, he secured a loan switch to his current side's neighbours Fulham, but has been unable to make too much of an impact at Craven Cottage.

This hasn't prevented him from attracting interest from elsewhere though, with Ipswich and Brentford both thought to be interested in the player.

Borussia Dortmund are also thought to be keen on a deal, having benefitted from having Ian Maatsen at their disposal.

The player's contract doesn't expire until 2028 and considering he's still young, the Blues have the license to demand a considerable amount for him.

The more they make from his potential sale, the more they will be able to spend in the market. His contract situation could give the Tractor Boys hope though.

If the Blues aren't keen on selling him, they don't have to, with his deal not expiring for another four years.

Instead, they could loan him out and that could give the Tractor Boys are a real chance of getting an agreement over the line for the Albanian.

It's a deal that could suit all parties and with Omari Hutchinson also thought to be of interest, a double deal could potentially be negotiated with Hutchinson potentially a target for a permanent agreement.
