Ipswich Town are eyeing a move for Burnley captain Josh Brownhill, who is out of contract this summer.
According to reports, Ipswich Town are keeping tabs on the unfolding situation with Burnley star Josh Brownhill, who is yet to sign a new contract at Turf Moor.
The midfielder was the star of the show for Scott Parker's side last season, scoring 18 goals and assisting a further six, sending the Lancashire outfit back to the Premier League.
However, Brownhill is yet to sign a new deals with the Clarets, and reports from Alan Nixon via his Patreon page on Sunday morning have suggested that relegated Ipswich have an eye on the situation with the 29-year-old.
The Suffolk-based side gave top flight survival a good go last season, but ultimately came up a fair way short of the mark, finishing 16 points adrift of safety.
However, Ipswich are expected to be challenging right at the top of the Championship next season, and Kieran McKenna will likely have a strong budget to play with to make those expectations a reality.
This has seen reports emerge from Nixon that Burnley captain Brownhill is on the radar of the Tractor Boys, having not committed to a new contract at Turf Moor just yet.
The midfielder and his advisor are reportedly looking for a big pay day, and the journalist has revealed that Ipswich may be able to offer him that, despite having to drop back into the Championship next season.
Despite the departure of Liam Delap, Ipswich's current squad looks in good stead to be a title contender in the Championship next term, especially if they retain popular boss McKenna.
The Tractor Boys are looking to bolster their midfield ranks, following the expiration of Jens Cajuste's loan, who was a key player for the Suffolk side in the Premier League last term.
To add a player of Brownhill's calibre and experience on a free transfer would be an unbelievable piece of business for Ipswich.
Prizing away one of the top players in the Championship last season who could be playing Premier League football would be a huge statement of intent towards title rivals such as Southampton and Leicester City.
This new revelation is a very exciting one for Town supporters, who will certainly be feeling that bit more confident about their promotion chances, if they're able to offer Brownhill a deal that sees him turn down the opportunity to play in the top flight.
