Ipswich display our best of the season, says Foden | OneFootball

Phil Foden has hailed City's performance in the 6-0 Premier League victory over Ipswich Town as the team's best of the season.

The Englishman made it six goals in his last six top-flight appearances with a brace at Portman Road, as Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and James McAtee all also got on the scoresheet.

The dominant display equalled our Club record away success in the Premier League, matching our 6-0 win against Watford at Vicarage Road in the 2017/18 season.

Foden, who also collected an assist and the Player of the Match award, was full of praise for the team's overall showing under the floodlights.

"I thought it was our best this season in terms of all round play," he declared. "Keeping possession at important times. We defended well as well. It’s one of our best performances this year."We’re just building momentum and keeping players fit is important. We had a lot of injuries. I put it down to that really.

"People are in better shape. The team is bonding better on the pitch and we saw that today. When we score we’re not rushing it and going for the next goal, we’re keeping possession.

"The build up play was good today. Gundogan and Kovacic were important, how they broke the press and kept the ball well. It was a good game.

"You never know what can happen. The aim is to stay in the top four and reach the top four at the moment. That’s the aim for now."

Foden made it back-to-back braces in his 200th start for City, after his double last Tuesday away to Brentford.

The Academy graduate endured a difficult start to the campaign due to illness and injury, but expressed his delight after his recent form and communicated his determination to score even more goals.

"It’s good to see me back scoring goals and with a smile on my face and enjoying my football. I’ve had a few goals recently and I want to keep going now and adding to that.

"It’s all seemed to change for me in front of goal. I think I’ve been a bit unlucky before these goals I’ve been scoring with a few chances.

"If I can keep arriving in the box with these players we have got then they will keep finding me. I’m delighted to keep on scoring."
