Coming in with a few too many injuries, what risks does this match present? ‘We will definitely not think about the game against Juventus: we think game by game. We know that Young Boys had some problems this year at the start, but on Sunday they won against Lucerne. They are a physical team, who have been playing in the cups for many years: we have to be careful.

What rotations do you have in mind, based on injuries? How is Zielinski? ‘We had a traumatic problem for Asllani on Friday on the last ball of training. We lost Calhanoglu, so the rotations are limited. Zielinski did the first part of training yesterday, today will be a new test: we have to make the appropriate evaluations.’

How is Bastoni? ‘I'm also making assessments on him and Dimarco, who are coming off three consecutive games.’

The pitch will be synthetic. ‘We're here to do the training because it's an important change. We will have to pay a lot of attention to the pitch today, that's why we have changed our routine and are training here today."

What feeling does the game in Rome leave you with? ‘We have won for four consecutive years at the Olimpico, which didn't happen so much before. Last year we won in a different way by scoring four goals, but we suffered in the first half. We played in difficult conditions, the boys showed great heart. On these pitches, to win by 3-4 goals, it's not possible. I take the great victory, the great performance: now we are at the beginning of this streak, we will have to be good at solving the injury situations because we need everyone’.

Are you ready to launch some youngsters from the Primavera? ‘The youngsters have to put in their best. In my career as a player - and it was like that for my brother too - I had to work my way up through the ranks, in Serie C, in Serie B. At Lazio I launched many youngsters, let's see if there will be a chance here too. Berenbruch and Aidoo are here because they deserve it, they had already done pre-season with us'.

With the absence of Calhanoglu and Asllani is Barella the solution in the middle? ‘I am happy with his performance in Rome. He already did it in Lecce last year, he did it in Udine. Tomorrow one of Barella or Zielinski will play there in the middle. We need a player with those characteristics. Frattesi will definitely play as a starter, then between Barella-Mkhitaryan-Zielinski: two will play and one will take over.’

What about Sommer? ‘Having said goodbye to the national team he will stay with us during the breaks. I strongly wanted him, together with the club. He's a great goalkeeper, but he's also a great man: you can talk to him anytime, he helps his teammates, he's great.'
