Martha Thomas found herself up against fellow Club team-mates Eveliina Summanen and Olga Ahtinen on Friday evening as Scotland and Finland played out a goalless draw in the first-leg of their UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 qualifying play-off tie.
Forward Martha started for her nation at Hibernian’s Easter Road Stadium, while midfielder Eveliina did likewise for Finland, with Olga a late second half substitute for her country.
Our number 17 led the line for Pedro Martinez Losa’s side and saw a header in the first half deflected wide in her only clear-cut opportunity in the game before making way on the hour mark.
Eveliina completed the full 90 minutes in Edinburgh and was denied by Eartha Cummings as the Scotland shot-stopper gathered her free-kick from the edge of the box.
The result leaves it all to play for in four days’ time as the two nations go toe-to-toe in the second-leg of the tie, with the winner securing a place at next summer’s Finals in Switzerland.
Elsewhere, midfielder Anna Csiki featured in Hungary’s 3-1 win over Malta in an international friendly on Friday afternoon.
The 25-year-old started for her nation and completed around 75 minutes in the behind-closed-doors encounter, earning her 43rd cap for her country.
Having missed the previous international break due to an injury, Shuang Wang returned to China’s starting XI as they were beaten 4-1 by the Netherlands on Friday evening.
The forward went onto complete 71 minutes for her nation and was replaced with the scoreline at 1-1, before the Netherlands netted three goals in 12 minutes to secure the win.
That was Shuang’s 93rd cap for her country.
