Inter experienced their first major setback in the Champions League for the season this week.

The Nerazzurri lost to German champions Bayer Leverkusen after a late goal from Noni Madueke.

Inter nearly held on to their record of not losing in Europe this season – and not even conceding a goal – but were unable to. This certainly came as a gut punch for the Nerazzurri.

Inter’s efforts to qualify for the round of sixteen are still more or less on track.

However, the defeat came as a real blow to the team’s momentum.

Inter Stuck In Germany An Extra Day After Bayer Leverkusen Loss

Inter will have certainly wanted to return to Milan right away so they could get back to work.

The team is anxious to put Tuesday’s disappointment behind them.

And the plan was for Inter to fly back the same night as the match against Leverkusen.

However, mechanical troubles with the team’s plane stymied this.

The squad waited for some time while the crew attempted to fix the issues, at an airport in Cologne. But, to no avail.

In the end, Inter returned to their team hotel on the bus at 4.00 local time.

Only yesterday did the Nerazzurri manage to return to Milan.
