Striker Mehdi Taremi has reassured Inter Milan teammates that he is safe amid Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi is currently unable to leave his home country of Iran.
The plan had been for the former Porto striker to join his Inter teammates in the United States for the Club World Cup this week.
However, the unexpected development of Israeli airstrikes have changed all of that.

The Israeli strikes which began on Thursday evening have naturally closed off Iranian airspace.
The Gazzetta report that Taremi had travelled to the airport in the hopes that he could leave Iran. However, it was simply unsafe to do so.
And right now, it is far from clear when that might change.
The Israeli strikes show little sign of stopping, whilst Iran have responded with fire of their own within Israel as the conflict escalates.
Therefore, the safety of travelling out of Iran remains very much up in the air.
But in the meantime, Inter have been in regular contact with Taremi. As well as with relevant local authorities, to understand the feasibility of Taremi leaving Iran.
However, reports the Gazzetta, Mehdi Taremi has also been in direct personal contact with Inter teammates.
The Iranian international has reassured his teammates that, despite the strikes on his country, he is not in harm’s way.
Taremi travelling would certainly carry risks. But at the moment, the area that the 32-year-old is in is not considered a high-risk area in any way.
