Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries says that even though Man City are “one of Europe’s best teams” the Nerazzurri are fired up.

The Dutchman spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s Champions League “league phase” opener against the Cityzens.

This evening, Inter begin another season in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri kick things off against the team that they met in the final of the 2022-23 edition of the competition.

And as with that final, Inter go into it knowing that they have a hugely difficult task ahead of them.

City beat Inter in the final of 2023, even in spite of a very impressive Nerazzurri performance.

The Cityzens have won the last four Premier League titles. And they currently sit top of the English top flight league table, having won all four of their matches in the league so far.

Dumfries: “Man City One Of Europe’s Best Teams, But We Want To Get A Good Start”

Inter wingback Dumfries noted that ahead of this evening’s match, “We have a lot of motivation.”

“It’s the first match in the new format of the Champions League for us,” he noted.

Dumfries admitted that “We’re facing one of the best teams in Europe.”

“But we’re ready,” the Nerazzurri wingback made clear.

“We want to get off to a good start,” Dumfries said as Inter prepare to begin their campaign in Europe’s top club competition.

Dumfries added that “We worked on the smallest details.”

“Because we know how important they are in matches like these.”

“We’ll try to do well defensively, and then attack when we can,” Dumfries said.

The former PSV man also said that “It will certainly be important for us to make good use of the flanks to create opportunities.”

Dumfries starts on the bench this evening. The 28-year-old has yet to start for Inter this season.
