Denzel Dumfries feels Inter Milan have had a “great season so far” in the Champions League.
The Dutchman spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s win over Monaco. He also said that the Nerazzurri are “fired up” to face AC Milan in the derby on Sunday.
Inter booked their place in the Champions League round of sixteen yesterday.
The Nerazzurri did so in emphatic fashion. They beat Monaco 3-0 to qualify directly for the knockouts.
A draw would have actually sufficed for Inter to avoid a playoff round in February.
However, the Nerazzurri were hardly in any mood to play for the result.
Inter won, clinching their place in fourth spot in the Champions League table. That sends a big message that they are among the teams with a realistic chance of winning the competition.
Inter did not just beat Monaco yesterday. They did so in very emphatic fashion.
After the match, Nerazzurri wingback Denzel Dumfries said that “I’m very happy.”

“Because we’ve had a great season in the Champions League so far,” added the Dutchman. “Not we have to keep going like this, but I’m happy.”
Then, of the tough fixture list, Denzel Dumfries said that “at the moment there are a lot of matches.”
“We’re working hard every day,” the former PSV wingback added.
“It’s an important period for us. But we’re ready for it, we’re in top condition.”
Meanwhile, Dumfries also looked ahead to the derby against AC Milan this weekend.
“After the Supercoppa [final defeat against Milan] we had particular feelings, because we lost 3-2 after having been 2-0 up,” he admitted.
“We have a lot of motivation.”
Dumfries said that “We’re fired up and ready, we want to win for ourselves and for our fans.”
