Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto feels that the Nerazzurri “play every match for their fans” after their 2-0 Serie A win over Como.
The Brazilian spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the match. He also thanked his teammates Alessandro Bastoni and Yann Bisseck.
Augusto got the start for Inter in today’s match, the team’s final one at San Siro in 2025.
The Brazilian showed his versatility, which has often been an asset for him at Inter.
Augusto started on the left of the back three for Inter. There were few options with a number of major defensive injuries in the squad.
And the 25-year-old put in a very eye-catching performance.
Augusto defended the left flank well, covering the spaces left behind by Federico Dimarco and never letting the likes of Ignace van der Brempt or Gabriel Strefezza get the better of him.
The former Monza wingback then made a very decisive contribution. For the second week in a row, he scored in Serie A.
Augusto had scored his first goal for Inter in Serie A against Lazio last Monday.
And while that was a big goal for the Brazilian personally, for Inter it was just the fifth goal in a 6-0 rout.
On the other hand, this evening Augusto’s goal was absolutely decisive to open up what had been a nervy match up to that point.
Augusto then had another contribution to make that was absolutely vital for the result.
The Brazilian made a massive interception to prevent the ball from getting to Como defender Edoardo Goldaniga, who would have had an absolutely golden opportunity to score.
Augusto celebrated his clearance almost as intensely as a goal in front of the fans.
After the match, the 25-year-old noted that “Even today so close to Christmas, the stadium was full.”
“We play every match for them,” he said of the Inter fans,
“And we’ll keep going like that.”
Meanwhile, Augusto commented that “Bisseck is like a brother to me.”
“Like everyone in this group.”
“Next to me I have one of the best defenders in the world,” he said, standing next to his teammate Alessandro Bastoni.
“I’m happy for myself, and for the win.”
Meanwhile, Augusto explained his goal celebration. “I made it up out of nothing,” he said.
“I saw it at the Olympics, I wanted to do something different. So I started using it.”
