Inter Milan have given midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu a clear ultimatum, as a transfer away from the club looks more and more likely.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri want the Turk’s situation sorted out in the next two weeks.

Hakan Calhanoglu seems to be caught with one foot out the door at Inter Milan, and one foot still inside.

Galatasaray have been signalling their interest in the 31-year-old’s signature for several weeks. The rumours about the Istanbul giants’ interest have been a daily phenomenon.

However, as of yet, there have been no concrete approaches from Galatasaray to Inter. Nor has Calhanoglu expressly asked for a transfer.

Amid these constant transfer rumours, last week Inter captain Lautaro Martinez all but called out Calhanoglu.

The Argentine made comments to the media after Inter’s exit from the Club World Cup against Fluminense. He declared that “whoever wants to leave, leave.”

Therefore, the transfer rumours around Calhanoglu are the source of a couple problems.

Firstly, the Nerazzurri can feel the squad disharmony that the constant rumours are creating.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta note, Inter cannot plan out their midfield for next season if they’re uncertain about the future of a player as important as Calhanoglu.

As such, Inter do not want the former AC Milan midfielder’s situation to drag out forever.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have given Calhanoglu an ultimatum: In or out, within the next two weeks.

Inter’s preseason training will begin around the twentieth of July. And by then, the club want to know whether or not Calhanoglu will be staying at the club.
