Inter did not just beat Verona yesterday in Serie A. They absolutely thrashed the Venetian side.

The Nerazzurri prevailed by a scoreline of 5-0 in their return to action from the international break.

Moreover, all of Inter’s goals came in the first half of the match.

That meant that the Nerazzurri had all but wrapped things up by the time that halftime rolled around.

Naturally, that was a big luxury for Inter coach Simone Inzaghi and his players. It allowed them to take their foot off the gas during the second half with big matches on the way in the league and the Champions League.

Inter’s five goals against Verona came in the space of just over half an hour.

First, Joaquin Correa opened the scoring on his first start of the season.

Then it was a brace from Marcus Thuram, with the Frenchman keeping his composure in one-on-one situations with Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo.

Defenders Stefan de Vrij and Yann Bisseck joined in with very well-taken goals. For both, these were their first goals of the season. And they certainly wrapped up the result for Inter.

After that, the Nerazzurri hardly needed to push for more goals.

And as the Gazzetta note, the last time that Inter scored five goals in the first half came all the way back in 1964.

That was in a 5-1 league victory over Sampdoria.

Meanwhile, Inter scored four goals within 31 minutes for the first time since March of 2017.

That match, a 7-1 win over Atalanta, had also seen the Nerazzurri score their first goal in the seventeenth minute.
