Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is chasing a record-breaking 200th Serie A win in tomorrow’s match against Lecce.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the 48-year-old could reach that milestone earlier than any coach in league history.

Inter coach Inzaghi has now been a fixture in Serie A for quite a few years.

Nearly a decade ago, Inzaghi took over the Lazio senior team, after coaching at several youth team levels.

And Simone Inzaghi has not looked back.

Inzaghi enjoyed plenty of success with Lazio. He guided the Biancocelesti to silverware, though never to the Serie A title.

Then in 2021, Simone Inzaghi took over as Inter coach from Antonio Conte.

And the 48-year-old’s record has been even better in charge of the Nerazzurri.

Last season, Inzaghi finally got his hands on the Serie A title as a coach. Inter won it in dominant fashion.

There have also been heroics in cup competitions like the Coppa Italia and Champions League from Inter under Inzaghi.

But even just in terms of Serie A, Inter’s record has been stellar since Inzaghi took over.

As the Gazzetta note, Inzaghi has secured 199 Serie A wins in total, from 331 matches coached in the Italian top flight.

Therefore, the next one will be 200.

Max Allegri is currently the coach to reach that milestone in the fewest matches. He did so in 338 matches.

Then, Carlo Ancelotti, Fabio Capello, Giovanni Trapattoni, and Luciano Spalletti are a little further back.

It is certainly reasonable to expect that Inzaghi has every chance of breaking the record. Potentially as early as tomorrow against Lecce.
