Inter Milan are hoping that they can turn the page on memories of their “fatal” away trip to Bologna in April of 2022.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan take on Bologna tomorrow evening in Serie A.
And the Nerazzurri will certainly not be underestimating the difficulty of the match before them.
Bologna have arguably been the form team for all of Serie A since the start of 2025. In the reverse fixture, they deservedly drew 2-2 at the San Siro.
Moreover, Bologna have proven tricky opposition for Inter in general over the past few years.
And never has that been more clear than in April of 2022.
Bologna hosted Inter Milan at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in April of 2022.
Going into that match, Inter were a couple points behind AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table. However, they had the trump card of a game in hand.
Inter scored the opener in that match, via Ivan Perisic.
But Bologna fought back. It was, ironically enough, current Inter striker Marko Arnautovic who scored the equalizer.
Then, a late howler by backup keeper Andrei Radu saw the Rossoblu take all three points.
That was the decisive result that allowed Milan to win the Serie A title over Inter.
It is certainly a bitter memory for the Nerazzurri. And whether they like to admit it or not, it will certainly be in the mind in many of the players.
However, this is a different Inter team compared to the one that played at the Dall’Ara three years ago.
There are plenty of new faces compared to that team.
And just as importantly, this Nerazzurri side have had many experiences that have completely changed their mindset.
Inter have been in a Champions League final. They’ve won the Serie A title. And now, they’re fighting to reach another final, and retain their league crown.
Therefore, there will be a lot of hunger to show that this is not a “fatal” fixture for Inter any longer.
