Inter defender Tomas Palacios had been on the verge of joining Brazilian outfit Santos, but that move is now on the brink of collapse amidst interest from an unspecified Serie A side, according to reports from Brazil.

The 22-year-old, who joined Inter in a €6.5m deal last summer, has been linked with a series of loan moves away from San Siro this summer, following his temporary spell with Monza at the back end of the 2024-25 campaign.

According to reports from Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Palacios had been on the verge of joining Santos, that there was an agreement in place for his signing and that he had even scheduled flights for Friday, August 28.

Reports from Fabrizio Romano claimed that Santos had agreed to cover 100% of the player’s salary and that there was an option to buy for a fee in excess of €10m included in the deal.

Palacios has reportedly expressed some doubts about returning to South America, however, having joined the Nerazzurri from Argentine outfit Tallares last summer.

UOL also reports that there has been last-minute interest from an unspecified Serie A side, which has also swung Palacios’s decision.
