Cameron Carter Vickers is one of the most valuable assets in our squad as he is so crucial to the way the team plays. He’s the rock at the heart of the Celtic defence. Celtic’s strength is build around our Big Strong Man and when he’s not in the team the difference is always noticeable and not in a good way…

The USA international who we dub the big strong man is the rock that holds our backline together, he’s a true natural leader, and a player that we would find hard to replace.

So reports yesterday that he didn’t train created a mass panic amongst the supporters, with the rumour mill running in full flow as to what could the reason behind his absence.

Many supporters believe he is still feeling the effects over a gruelling campaign, whilst some think he is need of an operation to cure his toe injury woes.

We can speculate all day as to what the cause is, but it’s plainly obvious that he has fitness issues which was evident in Brendan’s management of his main man at the back during our double winning campaign last season.

If the centre of our defence was a concern before this news, it’s starting to look like a serious issue now and it’s imperative we move to sign a quality and seasoned centre back to not only add to our choices, but take the pressure of CCV who is by far the best centre back we have in the squad.

Brendan Rodgers, we reckon,  was already looking at adding a new central defender to his squad so this would not be some sort of panic buy move, indeed it’s already necessary but has just become imperative.  The Celtic manager is back from his summer break and will be anxious to get his new arrivals over the line as quickly as possible.

Hopefully the CCV concerns are unfounded and perhaps Brendan has just given him a little longer break as he knows that he will be relying heavily on our Big Strong Man yet again in this new season.
