Jody Morris has made a huge claim and believes Moises Caicedo has been better for Chelsea this year than Cole Palmer.

Palmer has been nothing short of sensational since arriving in the summer of 2023 from Manchester City and he’s taken the Premier League by storm.

The 22-year-old was named Premier League Young Player of the Year in his breakout campaign last season after scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists, whilst he’s already scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 18 games this season.

Morris believes Caicedo has been better than Palmer for Chelsea

Palmer has come under increased attention from the opposition this season and Enzo Maresca has spoken of how he needs to improve in that situation.

The England international has been absolutely outstanding in 2024 for the Blues and has bailed the team out on numerous occasions, although Maresca believes Chelsea are no longer reliant on Palmer.

A number of players have improved under Maresca this season with Caicedo another one, and it feels like he’s a player reborn under the Italian.

The Ecuadorian has arguably surpassed the levels he reached at Brighton and has been superb this season putting in a series of impressive performances.

The 23-year-old has been labelled a game changer by Frank Leboeuf and he’s integral to this Chelsea team with his all action style.

You could make an argument for Palmer or Caicedo as to who has been Chelsea’s best player this year, but Morris feels the Ecuador international has been better for the Blues than Palmer.

“Caicedo has played better than Cole Palmer this year. I’m telling you, he’s been better than Cole Palmer at Chelsea,” he told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.

It’s a big claim and given Palmer’s impact it’s very difficult to say any player has been better than him at Chelsea since his arrival, but Caicedo has been outstanding and is now showing that he was more than worth the £115m the Blues paid Brighton.
