Ianis Hagi latest Rangers update amid Ibrox stand off

We have had a tonne of abuse at Ibrox Noise over the Ianis Hagi story, mainly from Romanians it must be said, who think nothing of smearing, insulting, attacking and generally besmirching anyone who talks about their favourite son in less than favourable terms.

The Rangers playmaker is simply not wanted at Rangers, and he’s only made it worse for himself by indirectly accusing Philippe Clement of lying.

Whatever we might think of our beleaguered manager, his word is final, and he said some weeks ago that it had been agreed that Hagi was moving on, that the boy and his agent had made it clear they wanted to leave.

For his part, Hagi was clever in his recent statement on social media – he never said he didn’t want to play for Rangers, he said he wanted to leave. Which, directly speaking are two different things.

He could be implying he wants to leave BECAUSE he’s not getting to play.

Either way, he’s fallen into the TikTok boy’s trap, of taking his internal rubbish out onto social media and making his case against the club or manager public.

So what happens now?

Nothing, unfortunately.

The rumours about wage decrease and renegotiation of contract were almost certainly just that, rumours, and Hagi is now just an expensive £25,000pw paperweight the manager isn’t interested in.

The reality is Hagi was dire in Spain, which would not have sold his qualities to Clement at all, and now Clement just isn’t interested in the slightest. In truth, he never has been.

So Rangers have an expensive player sitting in the reserves, unwanted by management and seemingly unwanted by any other teams.

No one came close to a good bid for him, and he reportedly rejected his homeland.

It’s not an ideal situation at all.
