Premier League legend Ian Wright has urged Manchester United to sign one of Chelsea’s top transfer targets Liam Delap.
Delap made the switch to Premier League new boys Ipswich last summer, but he’s already attracting attention from some of England’s biggest clubs.
Manchester City have a buy back clause as part of the deal in which they sold Delap to the Tractors Boy, but it remains to be seen if they are looking to bring their academy graduate back.
It’s no secret Chelsea were looking to sign an attacker in January, with both striker and left wing looked at, but the club reportedly felt there were no good value options and decided against strengthening the squad.
Delap is someone Chelsea have had their eye on for a while, and there’s the obvious City connection with Joe Shields, whilst he played with Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia in the City team coached by Enzo Maresca, which won the Premier League 2 title.
The 22-year-old has impressed in a struggling Ipswich side this season and has scored nine goals in 23 appearances, with Chelsea believed to be leading the race for his signature.

It’s been reported Liverpool could join the race for Delap, whilst there’s also said to be interest from United, who are said to be looking for a new striker.
Former Arsenal star Wright has urged United to sign the English striker and claimed he’s the type of player they need.
“Go and get Delap,” he said on the most recent episode of Wrighty’s House podcast.
“The thing is he’s got that hunger and disrespect for everybody and it just feels like the kind of player they need.

“They need a hero like that and he’s a hero waiting to happen. He’s hungry.”
Chelsea fans won’t be pleased to hear those comments from Wright, and there will be a battle for Delap’s signature, but if the Blues want him then they do appear to be in a very strong position to get the deal done.
