A number of Championship sides are eyeing a summer move for Valencia attacker Declan Frith.

According to The Standard, the likes of QPR, Birmingham City and Watford are all weighing up a potential move at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old is frustrated with his lack of game time with the Spanish outfit, where he signed last summer from Aston Villa.

He has yet to feature for Valencia at senior level, competing for their B-team this season.

A move back to English football could now be on the cards, as he seeks more consistent minutes going forward.

Carlton Palmer gives Declan Frith transfer verdict

Carlton Palmer believes that Championship clubs shouldn’t be concerned with the potential sell-on clause Valencia are seeking in any deal with Frith.

He has claimed that it will be worth taking a risk on the highly regarded forward anyway due to the promise he has shown at underage level.

“Declan Frith is expected to leave Valencia this summer,” Palmer told Football League World.

“The 21-year-old, formerly of Chelsea and Aston Villa, is supposed to be frustrated at the lack of first team appearances.

“Clubs in the UK like QPR, Birmingham City and Watford are all running the eye over him, he comes highly regarded in England and he scored 12 goals and eight assists in his final season when he was here in Aston Villa’s academy.

“He also had a spell at Chelsea, and can play as a striker, left-winger or left-back.

“He is highly regarded by the US national team, so of course clubs are looking to do business with the season fastly approaching.

“I wouldn’t worry about the sizeable sell-on fee.

“You only get that fee if he comes and produces the goods, so you won’t worry about that.

“You hope that he comes and fulfils his promise.

“He’s highly regarded, he’s got a lot of ability but he now needs to be playing regular first team football, so whichever club can give him first team football I wouldn’t be worrying about the sell-on clause, he just needs to get back playing and show the immense talent that he’s got.”

Birmingham and QPR's relegation battle

Watford have secured their place in the Championship for another season, but it remains unknown who will manage the team next year.

Meanwhile, Birmingham City and QPR are both still at risk of suffering relegation to League One, with the Blues currently sitting 22nd in the table.

QPR have a four point gap to the relegation zone with just two games to go, but the Midlands outfit are at serious risk of going down as we head into the last two games.

This could have an impact in deciding which club Frith prefers to sign for this summer, should he leave Valencia for English football.

Move to the Championship could be what Frith needs

The 21-year-old needs to be playing regular senior football at a higher level, so a move back to England in the summer could be what he needs.

If Birmingham suffer relegation to League One, then QPR and Watford will look the more promising options for him.

QPR also have an exciting manager in Martí Cifuentes, which could be appealing for the young forward.

Any move to Watford may depend on who they appoint as permanent manager, with Tom Cleverley only in the role on an interim basis at the moment.
