Nicolas Jackson has revealed what was going through his mind after he missed a big chance in Chelsea’s win against Brentford.

Jackson recovered and scored the all important second goal ten minutes from time with a brilliant finish as the Blues recorded their fifth Premier League win in a row.

Marc Cucurella had opened the scoring with a diving header, two minutes before half time, but a late Bryan Mbeumo goal set up a nervy finish, with the Blues able to hold on.

Jackson on missing big chance against Brentford

Chelsea’s poor record against Brentford was well documented with the Blues winless in their last five meetings with the Bees, whilst Thomas Frank’s side had won their last three visits to Stamford Bridge.

Jackson’s goal was his ninth of the season and was crucial given the Blues went on to concede a late goal, but the 23-year-old was guilty of missing a big opportunity earlier in the second half.

However, such is Jackson’s attitude he revealed after the game he didn’t let that get to him and insisted he knew he would get another chance.

“I missed that one but I was thinking I’ll get another one and try to score to help the team win, I did exactly that,” he said as quoted by BBC Sport.

Jackson was visibly upset with his performance against Tottenham but he will no doubt be happy with his performance on Sunday.

The Senegal international has been one of Chelsea’s most impressive performers this season and is key to how the team play under Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea are now two points behind leaders Liverpool, but Jackson also admitted after the game he doesn’t even look at the league table.

The Blues have another two games this week starting with the Shamrock Rovers in the Conference League on Thursday night, before they travel to Goodison Park on Sunday to take on Everton.
