‘I hope we can renew my contract at Real Madrid’ – Vinicius Jr shuts down Saudi links | OneFootball

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has declared that he will stay at the club and is ready to sign a new deal despite interest from the Saudi Pro League (SPL).

SPL clubs have been sniffing around Vinicius as they bid to make him their new superstar signing after acquiring Jhon Duran in the January transfer window.

They have set their sights on Vinicius and are prepared to give him a mammoth £200 million contract, but he has shut down those talks.

Vinicius said (via Mundo Deportivo): “Saudi Arabia? I am very calm because I have a contract until 2027, and I hope we can renew my contract.

“I am very happy to be with the best manager, the best president and the best players.

“I’m here to continue the story and give back everything that this club has given me and the president, too.

“My dream since I was a child has always been to get this far, and now that I have a history, I can win more. Many legends have passed through here, and I want to be like them.”

Vinicius joined Madrid from Flamengo as a teenager and developed into one of the best players in Europe.

The Brazilian international has registered 102 goals and 74 assists in 300 appearances for the reigning La Liga champions.

Vinicius is not firing on all cylinders this term, but he has recorded 17 goals and 10 assists in 33 outings.

He will be eager to continue his story in Madrid after making his 300th appearance for the club in the loss to Real Betis over the weekend.

Madrid are determined to bounce back from the loss in their quarter-final Champions League clash with arch-rivals Atletico Madrid.

The first leg is tomorrow, with the return fixture scheduled for March 12.
