Erling Haaland claims he ‘hasn’t been good enough’ as the Manchester City striker reflects on yet another defeat for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 2-1 loss to Aston Villa was City’s ninth in their last 12 games with the reigning champions slipping down to sixth place.

The run of nine defeats means City have lost more in that period than in their previous 106 games combined and Haaland shoulders some of the blame for the poor form.

“First I’m looking at myself, I haven’t been doing things good enough,” he admitted.

“I haven’t been scoring my chances. I have to do better, I haven’t been good enough.

“[Aston Villa] have good players, it’s difficult to come here but we’re Man City we should be out there.

“We have to continue, we have to believe and we have to keep working hard. We have to continue.

“He [Guardiola] won the PL six times in seven years. We will never forget that, he will find the solutions – he’s been doing that every year, except one in seven years.

“He’s going to find solutions, we still believe in him, and we have to work harder than ever right now.”

This latest defeat means City trail leaders Liverpool by nine points with Arne Slot’s side having two games in hand.

The champions could finish the weekend down in ninth should results not go in their favour.
