Stoke City out-on-loan star Tommy Simkin has set a high target for his loan at Walsall and revealed that he wants to win the League Two Golden Glove this season.
The teenage shot-stopper is considered a top prospect at the Potters and has been sent out on multiple spells away from the club to hone his craft.
League Two side Walsall loaned him in for this ongoing season and he has been Mat Sadler’s first-choice custodian at the Bescot Stadium.
Simkin has already kept eight clean sheets in the league and he made it clear that he is aiming to keep that up.
The teenage custodian has admitted that he wants to win the League Two Golden Gloves at the end of the current campaign.
“Yes, I am buzzing with it [a clean sheet against Barrow] to be fair”, the Stoke loanee told Walsall’s media.
“I think today, what record did we get last season, I think we got seven last season so, to have eight before Christmas is brilliant.
“And, I have got my own target, to get the Golden Glove at the end of the season.
“So, we are on the right track and we have got to keep on knocking them clean sheets off.”
Simkin will be looking to keep his performance levels high to impress Stoke boss Narcis Pelach ahead of next season.
