“I can’t see that happening at all” – Spurs writer shuts down transfer potentially “saving” Chelsea | OneFootball

Chelsea have built up a really deep squad over the last few windows, and there’s certainly a sense now that there won’t be new players coming in without departures to balance that out.

We saw a couple of years ago how toxic it can be to have an over-stuffed dressing room, and those in charge won’t risk being in that situation again. So you can expect to see as many departure rumours as arrival rumours in the coming months.

One player has switched from one of those categories to the other, almost seamlessly, is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. The Leicester star dominated the Championship last season, then followed his coach Enzo Maresca to Stamford Bridge.

But since arriving he’s barely featured – he has just 44 Premier League minutes to his name this season.

That’s leading to rumours about other teams being interested – including suggestions today that Tottenham could be in for him. But Spurs writer John Wenham has dismissed that idea for Tottenham News.

Spurs move for Dewsbury-Hall a non-starter

“I don’t see Tottenham going to their rivals Chelsea and saving somebody who has been a disappointing signing from their point of view,” Wenham is quoted as saying.

“I just can’t see Spurs saying we will take Dewsbury-Hall off your hands, pay you a fee, pay his wages. I just can’t see that happening at all.”

Unfortunately, he’s right. Tottenham are not going to do anything that helps us out, and this would be a huge favour right now. Forget whether KDH is good enough to play for them regularly, they’re aware we’re in a bad position and they’re hardly going to be the ones to hold out a hand and help us up.

If we offered them a sensational deal, sure. But at this stage, we’re too fresh into the KDH experiment to cut our losses. So we expect no movement in the short term – and certainly no movement in a Tottenham direction.
