Tottenham Hotspur have suffered back-to-back defeats after losing 4-3 against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

In a thrilling London derby clash, Spurs once again squandered a two-goal lead and ended up conceding four.

The decision to start with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero completely backfired after both of them picked up injuries.

However, it was Tottenham’s approach to the game that drew criticism from the pundits. Alan Pardew rightly said that the Spurs were so open that Chelsea could dominate the midfield and come back into the game.

Jamie Carragher (and other pundits) said on Sky Sports (has been saying for long) that Ange Postecoglou needs to be more pragmatic. Spurs are one-dimensional, and it will only hurt them in the long run.

What Jamie Carragher said about Postecoglou’s comments

Postecoglou doesn’t feel the need to change their style. He always stands by his attacking philosophy, even though it costs his team goals.

“It was good enough to get us ahead in the game so I am not sure why we should change our approach,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday.

Carragher was far from impressed by what Postecoglou said in his post-match interviews.

The popular pundit said on Sky Sports: “The manager accepts it because he keeps telling us he won’t change.

“He said something in his interviewer how well they played and he said remember we are our best and we still cause teams problems.

“I can’t imagine any manager I played for Liverpool if we conceded four in a game would say in the interview that we played well.”

Spurs need to bounce back to winning ways

Postecoglou stressed the need to sign new players in January after the game. Spurs are already without Ben Davies due to injury, and now Romerto could join him on the sidelines. They probably need one more defender.

The Spurs boss also bemoaned that they probably needed a calmer approach.

Tottenham have picked just one win in their past seven games, and they need to do work extremely hard to turn it around.

Spurs have already lost seven out of 15 games this season in the Premier League.

Daniel Levy has sacked 13 managers during his time at Spurs, but removing Postecoglou from his position now will not solve major problems.
