Manchester City look set to sanction a loan agreement for Joel Ndala into the EFL Championship this summer, it has been reported.

The 19-year-old winger is regarded as one of the most technically gifted players to emerge from City’s academy in recent years, having first joined the club from Port Vale in 2017 at just 10 years old.

Ndala signed his first professional contract with City in July 2022, becoming a standout figure in the 2022/23 season, registering 25 goal involvements for the Under-18s as Ben Wilkinson’s side claimed the U18 Premier League title. His rapid development also saw him included in the City squad that travelled to Saudi Arabia for the FIFA Club World Cup in December 2023.

Despite that momentum, Ndala’s first real taste of senior club football came through loan spells abroad and domestically, joining PSV Eindhoven in September 2024 with a view to a permanent deal worth up to £8.4 million, but made just 12 appearances for Jong PSV, scoring once.

His time in the Netherlands was followed by a February 2025 move to Nottingham Forest, joining their Academy setup rather than the first team, with an option to buy for £4 million. While he contributed in Premier League 2 matches, he did not feature at senior level under Forest’s first-team coaches.

Now, according to the information of Fabrizio Romano, Hull City have agreed a deal to sign Joel Ndala on loan from Manchester City, with an agreement in principle now in place between the two clubs with formal steps to follow.

The move to Hull offers Ndala a fresh and potentially defining opportunity to make his mark in senior football within the EFL Championship – a league known for its physicality, high tempo, and value as a proving ground for young Premier League talents.

With Hull aiming to challenge for promotion at some stage in the near future, regular game time and a clearly defined role could offer the winger the platform he has been seeking since leaving the youth system.

Manchester City officials are expected to closely monitor his development at the MKM Stadium, especially given previous plans to integrate him more fully into senior setups. Should Ndala shine, the door may yet remain open for either a return to City in the long term, or a more lucrative permanent transfer further down the line.

With this latest development, Ndala joins a growing list of City youth products finding routes into the professional game across the Championship and beyond, following updates on Jahmai Simpson-Pusey’s Celtic loan pursuit and Max Alleyne’s contract talks ahead of his own loan.
