Hugo Ekitike’s move to Chelsea is in jeopardy

Chelsea’s pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike has been well documented, but the move is now in jeopardy. Sky Germany report that the Premier League side are unwilling to pay SGE’s €100m valuation of the French attacker, who scored 15 and provided eight assists in 33 Bundesliga games last season to help die Adler secure Champions League football.

The Blues have already signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and remain hopeful of signing Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens after submitting a €35m offer. But their refusal to pay Eintracht’s €100m that they are asking for Ekitike could play into the hands of Liverpool. Sky Germany add that should Arne Slot’s side sell Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa or another attacker this summer, then they could advance a move for Ekitike whom they have showed interest in.

With the transfer deadline approaching, Ekitike is unlikely to play for Chelsea at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the USA later this month.
