Ollie Scarles has said that the appointment of Graham Potter is huge for the West Ham Academy.
The new Head Coach took charge after only a day at the club for our 2-1 loss away at Aston Villa, with the side producing an excellent display that arguably deserved the advance in the FA Cup, however it wasn’t to be.
One shining light in the match was Ollie Scarles, who produced a very good performance in his first senior competitive domestic start for the club.
“I thought we started really well, and we got the opening goal to go in front,” Scarles told whufc.com.
“We knew they’re a good team, and it wasn’t going to be an easy game, and in the end unfortunately we weren’t able to get the result.
“Tonight’s another good step for me, and I’m grateful to the manager and my teammates for their trust in me and for helping me through the game, and we’ll all move on together.”
Scarles also admitted that having Potter at the club is huge for the Academy players, with the new Head Coach making clear its a key importance for him as the new era at West Ham gets underway.
“The manager hasn’t had long with us – we’ve literally had yesterday and today,” added Scarles. “We had a good training session yesterday, and I’m just grateful he showed faith in me and started me today.
