An insight into the potential knock-on effect of the performance conjured up by Real Madrid youngster Gonzalo García in the club’s latest outing has been revealed online.
This comes amid confirmation that Los Blancos may well now bring a close to their search for a new striker.
Gonzalo was for his part in from the off on Wednesday night, as Real Madrid locked horns with Saudi outfit Al-Hilal in their opening fixture at the Club World Cup.
And the 21-year-old went on to make his presence firmly felt.
He was responsible for the only goal netted by Xabi Alonso’s side at the Hard Rock Stadium, with his pressing, movement and aerial ability having all been praised post-match, too.
So much so that, according Diario AS, those behind the scenes at Real Madrid are now reconsidering whether to sign a new striker this summer.
A cheap but experienced frontman was on the agenda at the Santiago Bernabéu with a view to next season, to fill the ‘Joselu role’.
As per AS, however:
‘There was no victory against Al-Hilal, but there was one conclusion: Gonzalo can be that player. He can be Joselu.’
