An insight into the likely defensive setup of La Liga giants Real Madrid in the club’s upcoming meeting with Liverpool has on Sunday been provided.
This, of course, comes after Real were dealt a fresh round of setbacks on the injury front.
En route to a 4-0 downing of Osasuna on Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti’s side lost both Éder Militão and Lucas Vázquez to injury, the former for what is expected to be the remainder of the season.
Add to this the existing absences of all of David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Joan Martínez and Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Los Blancos, all of a sudden, are facing up to a full-blown crisis at the back.
So much so that, upon turning their attentions back towards matters on the continent in a Champions League showdown with Liverpool later this month, Real Madrid are expected to line out with a near-unrecognisable back-four.
As per a report from Blancos insider Javier Rodríguez Pascual of Relevo, the visitors’ predicted defensive setup at Anfield will consist of:
Federico Valverde – Antonio Rüdiger – Raúl Asencio – Ferland Mendy
Conor Laird – GSFN
