How Harry Kane celebrated the first major trophy of his professional career

After 694 games, 447 goals and 14 years as a senior professional, Harry Kane won the first major team trophy of his footballing career as Bayern Munich were crowned Bundesliga champions on Sunday afternoon.

Kane had been denied the chance to cavort around the Red Bull Arena in his club tracksuit on Saturday by Yussuf Poulsen's 95th-minute equaliser for RB Leipzig. The England captain was suspended for that contest after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season - much to his vocal chagrin - the week before.

But the rest of his Bayern teammates joined Kane in watching on from afar as the title was sealed by Bayer Leverkusen's 2-2 draw with Freiburg this weekend.

Bayern's No 9 took to X at the final whistle to post a simple trophy emoji. The subtlety didn't last long.

Beneath the caption "We are the Champions", Kane filmed himself and the Bayern squad belting out the Queen anthem of the same name. After pivoting around to show Joshua Kimmich raising a glass of white wine while Eric Dier held one arm aloft with the other gripping a bottle of beer, Kane swung the camera back onto himself.

The perennial bridesmaid broke his stare down the barrel of the lens to close his eyes and tip his head back, soaking up the moment of success.

Kane's record-breaking move to Bayern Munich was unashamedly made with the express intention of winning silverware. "I want to be playing at the highest level, I want it to be playing in the Champions League, I want to be fighting for titles every year," he told assembled media at his unveiling in the summer of 2023. "Coming to Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in the world, gives me that opportunity, so I'm looking forward to that challenge."

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker had the chance to end his trophy drought in his first appearance for Bayern against RB Leipzig in the 2023 DFL Supercup. Yet, by the time Kane came off the bench, his new side were already 2-0 and the night would end in defeat played to the backdrop of RB fans chanting: "Auf Wiedersehen Kane".

Leverkusen's miraculous unbeaten domestic campaign would deny Kane last season's Bundesliga title and DFB Pokal, while Xabi Alonso's side also knocked Bayern out of this year's German Cup.

Kane's unrelenting goal output - he has scored 80 times in 89 Bayern appearances - couldn't help Vincent Kompany's outfit find a way past Inter in the Champions League quarter-finals, yet they would finally get one over Leverkusen this weekend.

After finishing as a runner-up in the Champions League, Premier League, Carabao Cup and two European Championship finals, Kane can finally call himself a champion.
