Bolton Wanderers loanee Amario Cozier-Duberry has been heavily praised after an explosive start to life in League One with the Lancashire club after joining the club on loan.

The Trotters have recovered from an opening day defeat at Stockport County with four points from six since then, lifting them into mid-table, and they are primed to really kick on this season under a promotion-winning manager in Steven Schumacher.

Bolton have had an exceptionally busy summer, with 12 new players arriving at The Toughsheet Community Stadium as Schumacher presses ahead with his intention of improving upon their slightly disappointing eighth-placed finish last time around.

Four of those players have been loan signings including Cozier-Duberry, who's signed on a season-long loan for Bolton from Brighton & Hove Albion after a mixed stint with Blackburn Rovers in 2024-25.

"I don't want to get carried away" - Amario Cozier-Duberry praised after strong Bolton Wanderers start

Football League World have spoken to Bolton fan pundit Liam O'Meara about the arrival of Amario Cozier-Duberry at his club, and Liam could hardly be more fulsome with his praise.

"I don't want to get carried away because it's very early days, but he does look like a very talented player, and he shone all the way through pre-season," Liam told FLW.

"I live very close to Blackburn, particularly where I am in Bolton, I know a lot of Blackburn fans, and every single one of them only have really good things to say about him so I was excited by the signing. He does look like a fantastic player."

Liam is optimistic for the season ahead for Cozier-Duberry, although he's wary of getting over-excited this early in the season.

"In terms of expectations for the season, if he carries on the way that he has, he's going to have a very, very good year," Liam added.

"You don't want to get too carried away after essentially three games of the season."

"In terms of the next year, let's see what happens.

"Loan players come and go, that's the nature of football. If we wanted to keep him, we'd probably be having to be playing at a higher level.

"But it's so early to say, so who knows? What we don't want to happen is lose him earlier, that would be the main thing. In terms of next season, we'll approach that in the summer, but what a start he's had."

Amario Cozier-Duberry's talents will likely belong at a higher level than League One in the future

Amario Cozier-Duberry has passed through the academies at both Arsenal and Brighton, so there should be no doubting the raw talent at his disposal. He spent the 2024-25 season on loan in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers, and he's also been capped at every level of the England youth set-up from under-15 to under-20.

If the player is to achieve the potential he showed in his younger years, there's every possibility that he might not stay with Bolton.

He's already playing a division lower than he was last season, and his parent club will have the right to remove him and place him at a higher level, should they decide that such a move would be better for the player's development.

But having scored once already with an outstanding goal against Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup, it's clear that this exciting young player is already proving his ability. Bolton Wanderers may not be able to keep hold of him for longer than this season, but they should enjoy him while they have him.
