Reports on Monday morning claim that Rasmus Hojlund is intent on staying in Manchester and fighting for his place at Old Trafford, but Milan have recently held talks with the Dane and have left sporting director Igli Tare in England as they continue to push for a deal with United.
Milan are on the search for a new centre-forward to compete and rotate with Santiago Gimenez, who is currently the only senior centre-forward on the club’s books.
Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic has been mentioned as a possible alternative for the Rossoneri, but the Serbian earns around four times as much as the Dane in wages.
As per reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have recently held talks with Hojlund’s camp after a pre-season friendly between Manchester United and Fiorentina over the weekend, a friendly for which Hojlund was left on the bench for the full 90 minutes.

The Pink Paper reports that Hojlund has not changed his mind and that he is content to fight for his place with United, despite their having brought in Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
Monday’s report claims, however, that it is likely Milan’s sporting director, Tare, decides to personally intervene. The Albanian has remained in England after Milan’s friendly against Chelsea in London on Sunday.

Milan are still hoping to strike a deal with United over an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
Hojlund himself would reportedly prefer to leave Manchester United on a permanent deal, with no ifs, buts or maybes, if he is to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Milan, meanwhile, have reportedly set themselves a limit of seven days to strike a deal for Hojlund, at which point, they will reluctantly turn to other targets if negotiations with United have not progressed.
