Kicker – responding to a report released yesterday by Transfermarkt – confirms that Hoffenheim are close to finalizing the terms of Fisnik Asllani’s contract extension. Germany’s most reliable footballing publication nevertheless emphasizes that there are still details to be ironed out. Hoffenheim head coach Christian Ilzer has convinced Asllani to stay, but the final terms between the player and his Bundesliga club are still lacking.

In other Hoffenheim-related personnel news, Attila Szalai’s loan out to Turkish Süper Lig outfit Kasımpaşa has been officially confirmed. Hoffenheim confirmed the Hungarian’s departure on its website. Kicker has little extra information to offer on the terms of the loan, yet does note that the German club can hope to save “a decent chunk of his [Szalai’s] salary.”

As is often the case with loan agreements involving high salary flops, the two clubs must agree to divide up the player’s salary. Such issues were precisely what sunk many potential loans involving Szalai in the past.

While it remains uncertain as to how much money TSG sporting director Andreas Schicker has saved, the controversial administrator has at least gotten one significant piece of dead weight off his oversized squad.
