France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has provided an insight into his call to leave Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé out of his latest squad.
The name of frontman Mbappé has of course positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in France and Spain alike once more across the day to date.
This comes after the 25-year-old was omitted from the former’s squad for the 2nd time in succession.
France’s panel of stars set to be tasked with getting the better of Israel and Italy over the next couple of weeks was unveiled online a short time ago.
A whole host of high-profile names feature front and centre, from William Saliba to Eduardo Camavinga and N’Golo Kanté.
The leading absentee, once more, though, comes in the form of the aforementioned Mbappé.
After the Real Madrid star was also omitted from Les Bleus’ Nations League squad in October, it therefore came as little surprise when his name was quickly put to boss Didier Deschamps during his latest press conferene on Thursday.
And, in his response, Deschamps went on to admit that Mbappé ‘wanted to come with us’:
“I had discussions with Kylian and made my decision. It’s better this way… Mbappé wanted to come with us, it’s not because of any other problem.”
