Gyokeres Shirt Sales Surpass Saka and Rice After Arsenal Arrival
Viktor Gyokeres's already making splash at Arsenal not on the pitch just yet but through the club’s shirt sales.
Just days after his official unveiling in Singapore, the Swedish forward has overtaken the likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in shirt sales, despite not yet playing a competitive minute for the Gunners.
Arsenal completed the 63.5 million euro deal to sign Gyokeres from Sporting CP on 26 Jul and fan excitement was evident as he was presented to roaring crowd ahead of friendly against Newcastle United.
Although Gyokeres preferred the No9 shirt, his decision to wear the iconic No14, once worn by Thierry Henry boosted his popularity. Many fans see him as the solution to Arsenal’s long standing need for true No9.
To celebrate the signing, Arsenal launched free shirt printing campaign offering "Gyokeres 14" on any new shirt , a service typically worth £16 at no extra cost.
The promotion triggered massive demand crashing Arsenal's online store temporarily. Analysts expect total sales to rise even higher as the campaign continues until Thursday with figures from external retailers yet to be included.
