Pep Guardiola says his players have to be ‘perfect’ against West Ham United on Sunday.

Only victory over the Hammers will guarantee a record fourth successive Premier League title for City, with Arsenal just two points behind the Blues and with a better goal difference.

The boss says David Moyes’ side possess plenty of threat in attack and from set-pieces - and there will be no margin for error.

“We want to experience [winning the title] again, but you have to perform and have to do something to win,” said Pep.

“How you show resilience in the bad moments against Aston Villa or Spurs for two examples.

“This is my feeling, consequences. What we have to do to win and control with transitions the ball.

“Paqueta, Kudus, Bowen, Soucek… the long balls. How to defend every single ball, free-kicks, corners.

“How you control Antonio in the channels. All demanding every single second that we are perfect. That is all I have in my mind.

“I don't want to play the game thinking of consequences. More than ever focused, what to do to score goals.

“Break when deep how they arrive in the box. Feel the support from our people this is what we have to think about. The rest later..”

City have triumphed from many epic title tussles in the past, most notably against Liverpool and latterly, Arsenal.

Both teams would have almost certainly won titles but for City’s excellence and Guardiola says they deserved to have been champions for their efforts.

“They deserve it,” he said. “Liverpool deserved it in the past. Margins in the moment are so tight.

“No judgements about the fact the team is not good, it's the opposite of arriving at the last stage to win. Hats off to Liverpool in the past and Arsenal this season.

“When you arrive in the last period [in contention] you have been magnificent. The satisfaction the day after. In the [history] book the day after, whether you win or not is a big gap.”

Asked if he ever reflects on previous Premier League triumphs, the boss added: “Now, no. In my biography after, yes.

“The first Premier League title with 100 points, I remember a little bit the tackles and these types of things.

“It's part of the process. In football in sports we have to live these situations to want to prove it and prove people wrong.

“Otherwise you're flat and comfortable. Take out the energy and repeat every single week to win it. Since then no one’s settled.

“What I said to the players, the chances of Villa winning at Emirates or Palace winning at Liverpool won't happen again.

“Destiny is in our hands. You are wrong, thinking Arsenal will lose or drop at Old Trafford - forget about it.

“Thinking Everton tomorrow will do something - forget it. The chance they give us. Now it's [up to us]; they lose a game, and we have the chance to be champions at home.

“Liverpool in the past it's not going to happen. We have to win otherwise Arsenal will be champions."
