The difficult time in the NWSL continues for NJ/NY Gotham FC. The Bats lost to the Kansas City Current in their recent home game, and now they must travel to the Salt Lake City area for a late-night match. The next game on the west side of the country will be against Utah Royals FC. It will be here that the NJ/NY side will attempt to break their recent NWSL winless streak of four.
Gotham FC’s recent struggles are also why the team is in tenth place. However, Utah is struggling more and sits in 13th place. They have just one win this season, just like Chicago Stars FC. But fans will remember that the Bats only tied with Chicago, failing to score in the start of the winless streak.
At the same time, Gotham knows how to beat the Royals on the road. Last season, they beat Utah 4-1 in a dominating performance. Since the roster is very different this year, there are questions about whether they can do the same thing again. At the very least, the returning players have that history and can show the new players what is possible.
One thing that is necessary, though, is for the Bats to score. They were held scoreless in the first three games of the winless streak, and finally got on the board against the Current. But that was an own goal, so technically, it does not count. If Gotham FC wants to win on the road, then they must return to their goal-scoring ways.

If Gotham fans cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via the NWSL website and the club’s X account.
Since the match is in Utah, it will be another late-night one. Thankfully, fans can hopefully not worry about staying up late because it is on a Friday night. To make things better, it is not a 10:30 start. Therefore, the game should be over before the clock strikes midnight, pending no delays or a ridiculous amount of stoppage time.
