Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has named a Chelsea star as one player he’d love to line-up alongside at St James’ Park.

Chelsea and Newcastle aren’t strangers when it comes to transfer business and the Blues sold Lewis Hall to the Magpies last summer after a loan spell.

Despite Chelsea’s current struggles the Blues do have a squad full of players with plenty of talent, even though there are some glaring holes in the squad.

Gordon was linked with a move to Chelsea whilst Thomas Tuchel was manager, but the move never materialised and he instead made the switch to Newcastle from Everton.

The 23-year-old is having a good season for the Magpies, who have made the Carabao Cup final and the winger has six goals and five assists in 24 Premier League appearances.

In a recent interview Gordon was asked which one of his England team-mates he’d love to play with at Newcastle and he picked Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

“I’m trying to think of this logically because I don’t want to displace anyone,” he told That’s Football.

“Right now I’ll probably go with Cole. I don’t think he’d suit our style of play at all, like a pressing style of play, but I think with his quality and what he’s doing at the minute, I’ll probably pick Cole.”

Palmer has once again been Chelsea’s go to man this season and has 14 goals and six assists in the league, although he hasn’t scored in his last five games in all competitions.

Troy Deeney feels the Blues could have a problem keeping the England international if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Palmer is under contract until 2033, and Enzo Maresca has said how he’s proud to work with the 22-year-old, but missing out the Champions League again could lead to problems Chelsea really don’t want to be dealing with.
