Amidst the chaos of last night’s seven-goal thriller at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Ruben Amorim lost another player to injury in a second straight game.
Within the first 15 minutes of last Sunday’s Manchester derby, Mason Mount pulled up with a non-contact issue and was forced off to oversee yet another spell on the sidelines, being consoled by his teammates as he did so. He’ll join Luke Shaw in the treatment room, where the two have spent the majority of the last season-and-a-half.
Last night, it was Victor Lindelof who had to be withdrawn after he sustained an unspecified injury. He quickly received treatment from the physio staff but, after it became clear he’d be unable to continue, the Swede looked almost inconsolable as he accepted his night was over.
Lindelof had only just returned to action over the weekend following a four-week layoff from an issue he suffered on international duty last month, though numerous setbacks have seen him limited to only five Premier League appearances since the 2024/2025 campaign got underway, with none coming from the off.

Simon Stone took to X/Twitter to highlight a concerning statistic regarding the 30-year-old, writing: “Gone under the radar a bit but Victor Lindelof [has] not started a Premier League game since March. Went off injured last night. Man Utd contract expires in the summer.”
Indeed, the centre-half is now in the final six months of his deal at Old Trafford, after which he will leave as a free agent in June 2025 and pull the curtains on his United career.
Numerous reports have suggested that the club would look to offload Lindelof in the winter window in order to recuperate a fee from his departure, however, they’ll be unable to do so unless he’s fully fit and available.
